One of the things in the Hetalia fandom that drives me nuts is the people who claim that Canada HATES U.S. by focusing on the few strips they bicker or fight. Then they turn around and ignore all the other strips and pictures where the brothers are hanging out and not bickering or fighting. Yeah, Canada totally hates his brother so much that he invited him over for maple coffee and sat next to him during the Olympics.
Canada and America have one of the strongest relationships in the entire world. They rely upon each other for trade, being the world’s largest trading partners, they’re both a part of NATO, they were very close allies during WW2 and the Cold War and still are today. They even share the world’s longest undefended border, and have very close cultural ties.
When the terrorist attacks on 9/11 happened, more than 200 airliners, carrying 33,000 people, mostly Americans, were diverted to Canada when the US closed its airspace in the immediate aftermath of the attacks. For days after September 11th, Canadians came to the aid of men, women and children who were in need of food and shelter while they were staying in Canada.
These two countries share one of the strongest relations in the world, so I don’t see how you can make Canada hate America. That’s just not true.
